Nature is beautiful. The sky, mountains, flowers, … ever looked out a window while flying and just been in awe of everything, how the clouds make you relax and meditate (well, so long as you are flying above them and not in them!)
I personally love cool nights. I have a habit of driving to a quiet spot, with some yoghurt (fat free or not, depending on my mood), rolling my windows down and reflecting on life. The beauty of nature can have a profound effect on our senses, just as exercise does.
Now referring to exercise, gyms are great, but we don’t always need to be inside one to get a great workout session. In fact, frequent changes in locations and exercise styles will challenge your body more and greatly impact your consistency. It’s a known fact that many people quit their workout routine due to boredom.
Mixing up indoor and outdoor exercise sessions is a great way to stay excited and motivated, and besides just running or jogging, you can include a skipping rope, dumbells or resistance bands, if you like. How about you try raking leaves, canoeing, walking a hill, rock climbing, riding a horse or even playing “catch’’ with your dog or kids? Whichever you choose is a great idea, because outdoor activities are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually rewarding. So on this day, in honour of nature and all its goodness, I took my “Moderate – intensity” workout session, outdoors.
